Dr. Liz Behrenfeld

Dr. Behrenfeld spent her first years along the Umpqua River.  She realized that she was fascinated with animal behavior from newts and other wildlife to chickens, rabbits, cats, dogs, cows, sheep, and of course, horses.  Spending hours watching and learning from these animals developed into an early passion of helping them have the best life possible.  Horses became the focus after moving to Junction City and this quickly expanded to show jumping and teaching.  After graduating from OSU/WSU veterinary program in 1993, her first job was at a mixed animal practice in Roseburg.  A move to Cottage Grove led to another mixed animal practice and teaching riding lessons at a local horse facility.  One more move led her to the East Coast to continue practicing both large and small animal veterinary medicine.  In 2002, the last move was to Alsea, Oregon.  She lives in a beautiful spot of the world with her husband, Mike, and her dog, 4 cats, two horses, and 9 chickens.  After 15 years at Ark Animal Hospital, she has now undertaken a new challenge of opening a mobile veterinary practice with Dr. Prince-Kelly.  Her interests include helping owners strengthen their bond with their pets, internal medicine, hospice care and elder pet care.
